Vicini Restaurant

  Editorial Review

Vicini is the latest addition to the food renaissance in the the inner west. The downstairs space is a funky Italian caf?? by day, serving delicious paninis, pastas and salads. Also loved by locals for its fantastic weekend brunches and al fresco seating, by night the Missoni - accented space morphs in to a vibrant artisan pizza and antipasto bar .

Editorial Review

So, Mario Percuoco may be gone, and the new owners may have (sadly for many) leaned towards the more casual brunch and pizza approach, but Zenith on Booth remains a warm and charming Italian eatery and one of the most intimate places for a meal in Annandale. On the street level are casual seats for more cafe-style brunching and snacking, while upstairs, the low-lit dining room has a luxurious sense of cosiness, with an open fireplace and a covered balcony offering glimpses of the city.

Zenith was a popular venue for pizza when it first opened, but after being pulled from the menu for some time, the wood-fired pizza has returned in force; toppings are thankfully kept simple and authentic. There's the la migliore with prosciutto, globe artichokes, mushrooms, olives and pine nuts, and a calzone of smoked gypsy ham, ricotta, tomato, parmesan and basil. Pastas include spanner crab cannelloni with baby spinach, ricotta, asparagus, tomato and basil. From the secondi selection, there's roast pink-eye lamb loin with eggplant, couscous, peas and rosemary jus. For dessert, opt for the chocolate and ricotta canoli with amarena, or the pizetta of pear, honey and mascarpone.
